Entertainment
Whilst our days should be filled with the wonders of exploring new countries, cultures and watching wildlife, the nights may be a different story. There no doubt will be many nights with just each other for company (well apart from the wild animals!) so we need some sort of entertainment plan. 6 months is a long time!
Games
We did some research into card based or travel games that were best played by 2 players and came up with the following list of games. Whilst we are yet to play them all, so far they are looking pretty good and should keep us amused during those nights by the campfire (and yes we really did purchase these games). We have also created our own book of normal card game rules which should give us a few more games to keep us entertained.
Books
Books have been a bit of a challenge. How do you take 6 months worth of books with you when you are travelling light? Do you take 2 or 3 with you and hope that you will find some to swap or buy along the way? Shopping for books is not high on my list of things to do whilst we are away! I have been looking into the Kindle is very light and thin making it easy to hold and use with one hand. The screen has absolutely no reflection on it and you can read it no matter what angle you are looking at it from, even in sunlight. The battery life is amazing, lasting up to a month with the wireless off. One of our next pre trip purchases is going to be 2 of these, and they are even shipped free to us here in Australia!
